第140回：Gritty Soldier: Samurai Moon

It would seem that the name of the tune we opened the arc with and that Hiyori (as Komurasaki) played for Orochi was in fact this very tune, ‘The Moon Princess’.

Hiyori must have had to bite her tongue so hard when spending her nights performing for Orochi but one way I think she was able to manage was by donning her fox mask and performing ‘The Moon Princess’. Every time she plays a note she’s playing it for her father, and as a funeral knell for Orochi.

I can imagine when all is said and done, at the culmination of the fire festival, Hiyori will be able to send off her father proper by playing the tune with a smile across her face for the world to see.

Wow! I’m personally very surprised and happy that one of the inner circle ended up being an actual traitor!

Oda twisted the knife! Kanjuro was heavily suspected by a number of fandom circles but what truly impressed me were the fans who called it not based on his absence or lack of being featured in Wano, but this line from his backstory:

Bravo! Yes, Kanjuro is the traitor and his name will go down in infamy like the rest of the Kurozumi clan when all of this is said and done!

Can I just say though, Oda-sensei absolutely killed it this chapter with bringing in the three pirate captains for a heroic arrival. I particularly like his technique of obscuring their faces until their line at the end:

Oda-sensei knows JUST how to hold back that dramatic tension and release it all at once!

Kinda reminds me of that time in Sabaody!
